Charleston, South Carolina is a city that has a love affair with food and drink and with that has come the coffee shop. Charlestonians take as much pride in their coffee drinks as they take in their wonderfully historic city. When you are in Charleston you will have plenty of choices of where to get your morning brew, your latte or your espresso. Let me help you great coffee in Charleston, SC.
Black Tap Coffee
This is a relatively new entrant into the coffee stakes having opened their first shop three years ago. The vibe here is minimalistic with custom heart pine tables, a standup bar with wrought iron stools and just a few black and white family photos. What you come here for is great coffee and that will not disappoint. They recently added two new quiches to their menu if you want to eat a little something with your coffee.
City Lights Coffee
This is a small welcoming coffee house in a great location. They offer free WiFi and plenty of lively conversation. In addition to coffee you can get cakes and sandwiches and even an Italian cheese plate.
This is a very popular early morning coffee spot for their own blend and you can have it drip or French pressed. Later in the day its espresso and a Traditional Macchiato. Best of all is the location, only one block from the Market.
Kaminisky’s Baking Co.
While Kaminisky’s isn’t just a coffee shop it does serve coffee and when it comes to places to have a cup of coffee and a piece of cake, this is the place to go. The cakes are baked on site and the selection changes. If you want a piece of Red Velvet cake that is over the top both in size and taste, it doesn’t get better than here. They also do a mile high coconut cake that made me one very happy patron.
Their coffee selection is reminiscent of a European cafe with cafe au lait, latte, espresso and macchiato. They serve Cuban coffee and Chai tea as well as hot chocolate and milkshakes. Their martini menu has plenty of offerings both for the girls and the guys.
This is located right in the heart of the action and expect to see lines to get a seat. We took our treats away with us to eat back at our hotel and if you are eating at TBonz you can get Kaminisy’s dessert in their restaurant.
These are just a few of the local coffee shops in Charleston, South Carolina. As you would expect they also have plenty of chain coffee shops and you will surely be able to find your favorite.
