Marvel’s Phase 3:Infinity War

The Road to Infinity War Begins

Marvel’s done it again! I thought that I would be excited in the upcoming Avengers movie next year, the Age of Ultron. Marvel is a famous comics institution that everybody knows their characters. But now they outdid themselves again. Their announcement of the upcoming movies in the next 5 years was unexpected. I can’t help but think how unfair and glorious it is. “Why Marvel? Why? Why did you have to announce something this big then leave your fans waiting until 2019?” Whether Marvel did it to tease us or to give good news, I’ve got to say, they did get our attention. And fans will have more to expect and more reasons to save up money to watch all those films.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is already big. Now, it is getting bigger now that Phase 3 is on its way leading up to the Infinity War. Phase 1 began with Iron Man and ended with Marvel’s The Avengers. Phase 2 started with Iron Man 3 and ends with Ant Man.  I really did wonder how on earth are they going to introduce all 6 Infinity gems. But things are getting clearer. the Infinity War is upon us. They introduced 4 of the 6 gems. I’m guessing that they will show the other 2 gems will be in the upcoming Phase 3 films.

The Infinity Gems

The Infinity gems are the very core of the upcoming movie, Avengers: Infinity War. They are powerful stones that grants the bearer limitless power. there are six gems: the space, reality, time, power, soul, and mind gems. When completed they are put together in a gauntlet called Infinity gauntlet. Thanos the main villain of the film seeks all gems to conquer the universe. The gems were introduced in various Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

Let’s review the 4 Infinity Gems so far:

  1. The Tesseract/ Space Gem

It was first introduced In Captain America: The First Avenger. It was the secret weapon of HYDRA and was lost in sea but recovered by Howard Stark . S.H.I.E.L.D. studied it for Phase 2.

   2. Aether/ Reality or Soul Gem

It is in Thor: The Dark World. Malekith used it to make all the realms dark but Thor thwarted him. In the mid-credits scene of the movie was it revealed that the Aether was an Infinity gem. Sif and Volstagg came to the Collector to safeguard the Aether. They stated that they cannot keep the Tesseract and the Aether so close together because they are 2 of the Infnity gems. It was the first hint that the Infinity War is starting.

    3. Purple Orb/ Power Gem

It is in the Guardians of the Galaxy. Thanos manipulated Ronan the Accuser to get the Orb for him.

     4. Loki’s Sceptre/ Mind Gem

It is in Marvel’s The Avengers. It was given by Thanos to Loki. Now you’re wondering why would Thanos give away an Infinity gem to Loki. I think Thanos thought that Loki would succeed thus conquering the Earth as Loki wants and taking back the sceptre and the Tesseract in his hands. In the mid-credits scene, was the first appearance of Thanos indicating that the Avengers will face a bigger threat in the future.

Now all that are left are the yellow and green gems. I’m guessing that they are the time and reality or soul gems. We’ll be waiting for their appearances very soon enough. I’m sure that fans will be anticipating for that.
