Losing Weight Quickly for Spring Break

salad-374173_640While it is not the healthiest thing in the world to do, losing weight quickly for spring break is something that many women do every year. Let’s face it, if you need to lose more than 10 pounds, it really is not easy to lose it fast but if you are willing to forgo some of your favorite sweets for a couple of weeks, you should be able to shed 10 pounds relatively easily.

Before you begin, you need to understand that 1 pound equals about 3,500 calories. Knowing that and also knowing that the average woman will need between 1,800 and 2,400 calories a day to  sustain her current weight, you can see that it is not really possible to lose more than a few pounds in two weeks even if you did not eat anything unless you can rev up your metabolism. 

So, how are you going to look fantastic in that great new bikini you just bought? One way is to limit your carbohydrates. A diet like Atkins offers the hope that you can shed the ten pounds you want to lose in a week or two.

What exactly does that mean in terms of what you can eat? Basically, you are going to stay away from bread, pasta, rice, starchy vegetables, legumes, most dairy and most fruit. What can you eat? Protein becomes your best friend. But contrary to what you may have heard, you do not need to eat lots of red meat or huge portions of steaks and chops. The diet works just as well with chicken and fish as it does with red meat.

You can also have salad, lots of vegetables like summer squash, broccoli, and cauliflower and you can indulge in berries. If you like, you can use artificial sweeteners. All spices are okay and many condiments. You can use butter on your vegetables and creamy salad dressing on your salad; you just need to check the number of carbohydrates in anything you are going to eat. Be sure to deduct the number of fiber grams from the carbs. Drinking lots of water is also recommended.

If you follow the diet, it should work for you. However, there are some people who it doesn’t work for. Medications  can affect the efficacy of the diet.

Fasting is one of the most effective ways to lose weight quickly but it must be done correctly. Several diets use different methods of fasting to achieve fantastic results. The first is to eat normally five days a week and eat 25 percent of your normal calories 2 days a week. Another requires that you go a minimum of 12 hours a day or night without any food at all and the third allows 800 calories maximum for eight weeks. All of these will result in weight loss and are healthy and effective.  

To maximize the amount of weight that you lose, it is always advisable to increase the amount of activity that you do. This can be as simple as walking a few miles every day or it can involve sports activities, or going to the gym. The more active you are, the more calories you will burn. While Atkins is about carbohydrates, not calories, calories do count.

Losing weight quickly for spring break may not be the best way to lose weight, but it is possible if you really need to do it that way.
