Is Aloe Vera Shampoo Good?

It is diffcult to avoid the harsh chemicals that are normally found in most commercially available shampoos. Chemicals found in these shampoos not only cause adverse reactions in sensitive people, but it has been claimed that they can also be potentially harmful for the environment. That is why, more and more people are turning towards homemade or organically prepared shampoos that utilize simple and natural ingredients for cleaning and caring for their hair.

One of the most effective homemade shampoo recipes is the one that utilizes aloe vera as the base ingredient. Aloe vera is highly versatile succulent plant that grows in the dry tropical and subtropical regions of the world, and it is widely regarded for its tremendous skin soothing properties. By learning how to make a natural and highly effective homemade shampoo with aloe vera, you will put an end to getting affected from those harsh chemicals that are mostly found in our regular shampoos.

So, how do you exactly make that aloe vera shampoo at home? Let’s figure it out.

Step 1 – Harvesting the juice from the Aloe Vera plant

Cut a leaf of aloe vera plant. Now, slice it through the wider side of the leaf. Pull apart the two halves. Now, you can easily pull out that thick, succulent translucent gel from these leaves by using a spoon.

Step 2 – Mixing everything together

Our main ingredient at this point is ready. Next, you will need castile soap, vegetable oil, and glycerin. Mix ¼ cup (around 60ml) of each of these 4 ingredients in a small bowl. You can also add a small amount of essential oil like rosemary – this won’t just add a nice fragrance to your shampoo but will also help preventing dry and damaged hair.

Step 3 – How to use this Shampoo

We were all done in preparing this shampoo in the last step. Now we will figure out how this shampoo is best used. There is no hard and fast rule as to when and when not should you use aloe vera shampoo. This plant is light, and combined with other delicate ingredients, the odds of it causing any side effects are quite low. One application daily is the best approach to get started. Just make sure to shake the bottle (in which you’ve store it) before pouring shampoo in your hands, because the ingredients will tend to settle down over time.
