How to Create Unique Purple Orb Style Button in Adobe Photoshop

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to create glossy purple orb style button in Adobe Photoshop. In the process of creating the orb we’ll be using lots of layer styles, Pen Tool and Ellipse Tool. All versions of Adobe Photoshop are applicable as I haven’t used brushes, custom shapes or other features default for Adobe Photoshop CS6.

STEP_51

STEP 1

Create a new Adobe Photoshop .psd file of 800px Width and 800px Height. Name the document Purple Orb Style Button for example, set Resolution to 96 Pixels/Inch and choose Transparent for Background Contents.

STEP_1

STEP 2

Call Layer 1 Background, then go to View and check Rulers.

STEP_2

STEP 3

Press D key to set Foreground/Background Color to the default Black&White and use Paint Bucket Tool or go to Edit, Fill, Foreground Color to fill Background Layer with black.

STEP_3

STEP 4

Now go again to View menu and choose Guides. Smart Guides also have to be checked.

STEP_4

STEP 5

Drag one vertical and one horizontal guide which intersect in the middle of the image.

STEP_5

STEP 6

Create a New Layer above the Background and call it Circle 1. Press Ctrl+G to put it in a Group and name the Group Circles.
We are going to create the base of the orb. So set Foreground Color to #3c1b43, select Ellipse Tool, in the Options Bar set its Mode to Pixels, check Fixed Size and set Width and Hight of the Ellipse to 700px both. Draw the perfect circle and with the help of Smart Guides place it in the middle.
