If you love the java you don’t have to spend a lot of time going to shops or a lot of money buying coffee from cafes.  A good coffee maker will eliminate all of that and you can enjoy some of the best java you have ever had in the comfort of your own home.  You’ll save time, money, and a lot of energy that could be better spent elsewhere.

If you don’t think that you can make caffeinated beverage that is as good as the what  you are used to buying in the brew shops it is only because you haven’t found the right coffee machine yet.  A decent coffee maker can be purchased at a very reasonable price and if you learn how to make a cup of joe the right way you’ll soon love your own java more than anything you might buy at a cafe!  The rules are really quite simple.

The first thing you should remember is to wash your brewing pot after each use with a mild soap.  Rinse it well and dry it off so that excess water doesn’t sit in it for long periods of time.  Next remember to always use cold water – never warm and never, ever hot water!  Make sure the water you use is fresh – use filtered water if you have it – as are the grounds.    You can buy freshly ground java beans at almost any grocery store or supermarket these days.  If you prefer to save a little money by buying pre-ground coffee you can keep it fresh for longer periods of time by storing it in the freezer instead of in the cupboard.  A tightly sealed canister or another vacuum sealed container will keep it even fresher.

Sometimes when people are single they don’t bother with a coffee machine because they can’t imagine making a pot of brew for just one person.  But you can buy java machines in several sizes.  You can buy the standard 10-12 cup coffee maker if you have several people in your home that like the hot stuff or if you entertain a lot but if it is just you, look for a smaller option.  You can buy four cup machine (great for a couple of cups at a time) or if you just need a hot cup of java to start off your day the one cup machine might be more suited to you.  You can even get a one cup coffee brewere that comes with a travel mug!

If you aren’t sure what kind of new coffee maker to buy and are confused by all the brands there are several things you can do.  Talk to your friends and see what they like.  You can also do some research online and find good brands of brewing machines that are approved by other java drinkers.  Finally, remember that coffee makers come in a variety of prices and the best coffee maker is not necessarily the most expensive one.  Find the one that is best suited to your lifestyle and has good reviews from other coffee drinkers.  Soon you’ll be enjoying the comfort of your own home as you enjoy the best coffee you’ve ever had whether you love Starbucks, Caribou Coffee, or Maxwell.
