New Recipe Card added to Daily Two Cents

The old recipe card no longer is supported by it’s authors, but more importantly is ignored by google as being a blank page. This new card will show up in google searches with thumbnail and more importantly adds SEO automatically to your recipe.

1

Click this icon on your new post page

2

Write or paste your list of ingredients. Card will automatically make them bullet points. Write or paste steps. Put each step on it’s own line and card will automatically number them.

3

Add additional info if you want. Any field left blank will not be included. Click add recipe.

Finally check your title and add your featured image and you’re ready to post. Note that Yoast SEO will not recognize this recipe, but google will.

Outbound link rules by site

Because we’ve been slack on enforcing some of these, DTC especially, we’re slipping slightly in ranking. Therefore we are going to start being far more diligent in the future to ensure our quality remains high. Here are the word count and link rules for each site.

Writedge – Revshare – 400 words – 1 link per 250 words up to 6 max
Daily Two Cents – Revshare -150 words – 1 link per 200 words up to 2 max (no more links on posts under 200 words)
Honest Reviewz – Revshare – 300 words – 12 links
Craft Closet – PPV – 300 words – 1 link per 250 words up to 6 max
Build a Better Me – PPV – 300 words – 1 link per 250 words up to 5 max
Listofied – Revshare – 300 words per link max 5 (under 300 words, no link)
Trendzic – Revshare – No minimum word count
The Daily Voice News – PPV – 200 words minimum – No affiliate or promotional links

Coming soon:

Indie Bookz – Revshare – 300 words per link max 5 (under 300 words, no link)

Final Payouts for DTC and WE

Final payments for September and the first 2 days of October have been sent out for both DTC and WE. We paid everyone who was owed a dollar or more AND had entered their paypal address. There will be no more payments sent out from either site.

Thanks for writing with us, and if you’re not sticking around, best of luck in your future endeavors.

Regional coverage of South America, Asia, and Euro.

Education
Canada politics
US politics
Euro politics (not UK)
Business (Not markets)
Style/Fashion

You can find the basic qualifications here: http://writedge.com/blog/the-daily-voice/

You will also be required to brush up on AP style basics if you’re not already familiar, and be willing to learn the difference between writing news and just writing content.

inverted pyramidSite is PPV with the rate at $2.00/1000 currently. We will be giving raises to those who show the most commitment and contribution to the site though asap. This site will eventually go to salary for staff/beat writers, and pay per piece for freelancers.

New pay model starting

Effective immediately (Oct 1st) we are changing our pay model on Daily Two Cents and Writedge to adshare instead of pay per view. We’re not happy about doing so, but have come to the conclusion that it’s the only way to keep the sites sustainable so we don’t have to worry about ever having to take them offline. On November 2nd, you will still receive anything you’re owed for views (anything over $1.00 as paypal won’t allow us to send less than $1.00), but that will be the last direct payment from us. You’ll need to have your ad share set up by then if you plan to use it, or your affiliate links if you’re choosing not to use adsense.

Our affiliate link rules will remain as they are so you can earn from both adsense and other affiliate links of your choice.

We’re sorry, but it’s been over 2 years and we finally just have to admit that pay per view isn’t sustainable without 100x the traffic we’re getting.

We hope you will stick with us, but if you can’t we do understand and wish you the best wherever you end up.

(To setup an adsense account, you must have one of the 3 following options. 1. Your own site. 2. a monetized youtube account, or 3. a blogger blog.)

UPDATE for people who don’t already have adsense!!!!

We are willing to host a blog for you for free (within reason on bandwidth). You’d have to buy your own domain name, and we’d want to place one ad of our own above the fold, but otherwise it would be yours to do with as you wish, only rule would be no adult.

To qualify:
You must have been with us for more than 6 months.
You must have written 50+ posts (this can be anywhere on HMM not just one site).
You must have demonstrated GOOD conversational English skills.
You must not have had any posts sent back to draft for any violation in the past 3 months.

Q: How do I add my Adsense code?

adsenseWarning: Clicking on your own ads will lead to a suspension!

1. Go to Google Adsense.
2. Click on “My Ads” in the top menu.
3. Click on “+New ad unit” button.
4. Name your ad
5. In the Ad Size box change it from Showing Recommended to Showing Horizontal banner or Showing Responsive
6. Choose Large Mobile Banner if you are showing Horizontal; if you are Showing Responsive there is only one option.
7. For Ad type you can choose whichever option you like best (display ads are pictures – text are just text)
8. Leave Text Ad Style, Custom Channels, and Backup ads – you don’t need to do anything with these.
9. Click on “Save and get code”
10. When the box with your code comes up change the code type to synchronous. For some reason the asynchronous code does not work.
11. Copy the ad code and paste it into the box provided.
12. Save.

This will cause your ad to appear 75% of the time and ours 25% of the time.

Note, if the code disappears after you save you likely used the asynchronous code by mistake!

August 2015 payments sent

paypal payment

All payments for August have been sent. If you feel you were overlooked or missed, please email me at writedge1 (@) gmail.com with ‘August Payment’ in the subject line and your site, username, and issue in the body of the email.

There are still people on DTC from as far back as October that have met threshold, but didn’t enter a paypal address.

If you want your money, enter your paypal on your DTC profile and then email me at the above email address and tell me your username and which month I said you’re owed on. (Note that if I say you’re owed in December, you’re still owed in January and it’s not a second amount due.)

Important – Changes in Profile Pages! Please Read!

This is important for Daily Two Cents writers but everyone should read this because it will apply to the other sites in the next week or so.

So, what we’ve done on Daily Two Cents is we’ve changed the profile plugin.  The one we were using was so bloated and full of “stuff” – and a lot of it completely unnecessary for us – that we suspect that it has been the cause of a lot of down time.  We’ve decided to simplify because a lot of the features of the old plugin were just not being used.

You can now access your profile the same way as before – click on the Profile link in the navigation bar (it’s under the Writers link).  Once you get there, you’ll see that the first thing that is visible is you bio with social media icons and then all of your most recent posts.

You can still do some personalization, like adding a cover photo.  In fact, if you want to show up on the Writers page you MUST add a cover photo. In order to need to crop it, the photo should be 1000×360 pixels.  Please keep cover photos family friendly.

You can also add extra information that is not in your bio in the About section.  There’s a spot for up to 1000 words of text.  There is also spots for all of your social media icons.

I think that editing your profile is easier than before.  All you have to do is click on the tool icon and then Edit Profile.

Along with this new profile page comes a new login page and a new registration page.

Now, I did have some issues when I added it to Daily Two Cents and I am hoping that I can work out whatever I did wrong when I add it to the other sites.  But I accidentally moved EVERYONE to self-publishing status!  Ooops.  The only way to take care of as much of my error as possible was to change anyone who did not have a post to Pending.  I had to do this because there are SOOOOO many bots that sign up for the site and will post tons of spam if they are allowed to publish freely.

IF you were set to pending (you likely got an email) and you have previously been approved to publish, please just send me an email to [email protected] with your username and I will fix it as fast as I can.

IF you are now approved for self-publishing and you previously were not, please be sure that you have read the FAQ (link is at the top of Daily Two Cents in the navigation bar) and are following the rules.  IF you publish poor quality content (bad English, lots of spelling mistakes, etc.) or publish something without giving proper attribution to photos or publish photos that are not licensed to be used on commercial sites, your posts WILL be returned to draft and your self-publishing privileges may be revoked.

I hope that over the next few days that we can get everything worked out.  When I’m confident that it is working well on Daily Two Cents I will install it on the other sites as well.  So if you see weird stuff happening, don’t panic. Just send a polite email to us so we know if something is not working.

Thanks!

Ready for our September contest?

September contest

So we have a $5.00 Amazon gift card we want to give away. We’re thinking the person with the most social actions (likes/tweets/g+) for a set length of time.

To qualify, you would need to have 100+ articles submitted on a single site (with the exceptions of The Daily Voice News, Trendzic, and Top Christmas Toys. We’ll say a minimum of 25 posts on one of those sites to qualify).

So once you qualify, write a new article on any site (can be any site in our network, not necessarily the site you used to qualify for the contest). Get your friends, family, and followers to engage. Once the contest ends, you would email us at [email protected] with ‘September contest’ in the subject line and a link to the article you’re submitting. The article with the most combined social actions will win.

Sound good? Let’s say we’ll run the contest starting September 14th and run it through to September 30th. That gives you the entire weekend to submit enough to qualify if you don’t already.

Good luck!

p.s. If your submission has 50% more social engagements than the 2nd place person, I will also offer you $10 via paypal plus the gift card.

2nd place – $2.00 via paypal
3rd place – $1.00 via paypal
